Mission of Hope, Haiti, Dancing again
Gearge was one of the best ballroom dance instructors in Haiti…until January 12 when blocks fell on his leg and crushed it. He instantly became anothre Haiti amputee! In April, George arrived at MOH and again his life would change. He arrived with a mixture of fear and hope. The technicians of MOH prosthetics center were able to fit George with a new leg…and a new life! Recently George’s students held a celebration dinner for him and GEORGE DANCED. Truly, Mission of Hope is a SPECIAL place.
Mission of Hope Haiti; Backpacks; MOH 500; school reopened
Mission of Hope Haiti can be reached at info@mohhaiti.org or by calling 816-246-7774. The web site is www.mohhaiti.org and they regularly post relief effort updates, trip information and more. In June MOH will kick off what they hope to be over 500 new homes for victims of the earthquake over the next two years. Each home will cost $4000.
MOH reports their Mwen Kapab (translated “I Can”) backpack program is doing well but could use even more support. Their goal is 100,000 I Can backpacks for kids!
In April, MOH reopened their school rooms which had been used as make shift hospital wards. What a joy it must have been to hear children’s laughter once agian where so much pain had been. Please pray for the students, those children that do not have a school to go to, and for MOH leaders who are contemplating expanding their school to help.
Church of God in Haiti
15 COG persons from the US recently returned from Haiit where they learned how to build prefab homes and actually copmpleted three of them in one week. Lots of tears, prayers, and rejoicing in the community as these homes were completed. 20 more work teams are scheduled to head to Haiti from various COG sites in teh coming months.
